CRUZ Colheitas are rare vintages with complex flavours of dried fruits and spices which perfectly accompany strong meats and almond-flavoured desserts.


Recipe Beef, tomato and onion empanadas

People : 4 Preparation :15 min Cooking time :20 min

Ingredients :

  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 ground beef patty
  • 1 uncooked puff pastry
  • a few olives
  • 2 eggs
  • four spices mix

Preparation :

  • Chop the onion and sauté it until it is golden brown, then reserve on a plate. Sauté the ground meat in a pan and season with the four spices, salt and pepper.
  • Add the sautéed onions and chopped tomato; simmer. Place an egg in the mixture and crumble it once it is hard-cooked.
  • Once everything in the pan is cooked, remove it from the heat and add the crumbled hard-cooked egg and the pitted, quartered olives.
  • Stir thoroughly. Cut the puff pastry into circles of 10 cm.
  • Place some of the mixture in the centre of each circle. The idea is to form small turnovers in the shapes of half-moons. Place the turnovers on a baking sheet moistened with a mixture of water and olive oil. Crimp the turnovers to seal them along their edges using the prongs of a fork.
  • Brush the turnovers with egg yolk so that they become golden brown when they bake.
